Governors shun Anaya

He had already pictured it. Him, surrounded by the 12 governors of the National Action Party (PAN) . The photo was going to be the proof of the unity within the party after the scandalous resignation of Margarita Zavala . However, the story couldn't go as planned, since some say not all the governors answered the call of the national leader of the PAN Ricardo Anaya . The request of the boss – and according to some, the owner – of the party, was only complied with by the governors of Baja California , Francisco Vega; Guanajuato , Miguel Márquez; and Veracruz , Miguel Ángel Yunes. Naturally, we've been told the invitation didn't overtly include the matter of the photograph, yet, some of the governors had more imagination than the others. PAN members tell us that those capable of reading signs will get something out of the fact that only three out of the 12 governors – 10 PAN members and 2 coming from coalitions – answered their leader's call. The Zavala-Moreno Valle summit

Well, it seems there were a lot of things to discuss between National Action Party ( PAN ) member Rafael Moreno Valle , and the now independent Margarita Zavala , since they talked for over two hours during a meeting held yesterday. The presence of both didn't go unnoticed by the other dinner guests at the restaurant La Hacienda de los Morales. From afar, it looked like a lively and polite conversation between Rafael and Margarita. In the end, the former party members said they affectionate farewells. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for them, because Politics is so whimsical they could end up adversaries – or allies – in 2018.

194 years of pride

The Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) was dressed up to the nines on the occasion of the 194 anniversary of the foundation of the Heroic Military College . The date of the foundation of this Institution – dedicated to the formation of the officials of the Mexican Army – is one of the most revered events in the calendar of the SEDENA. However, our sources say this anniversary has a special importance under the current administration, given the Minister of the Defense, General Salvador Cienfuegos , was, from 1997 to 2000, the director of the Military College.

IMSS and union close the deal

Quietly, without much fuss, and amidst political quarrels, the Mexican Institute of Social Security ( IMSS ), directed by Mikel Arriola, and the IMSS union, led by deputy Manuel Vallejo, closed a deal during the review of their collective labor agreement for the period 2017-2019. We're told the representatives of the institution and the union have determined a general increase of 5.15% – 3.05% on wages and 2.10% on benefits. Mr. Mikel and Mr. Manuel will sign the document this Thursday, so the new contract and benefits can launch on October 16. There are some on the team of the IMSS director who are none too happy with this negotiation.
