Officers of the State’s Attorney General arrested one of the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Federal authorities confirmed the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán López.

Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán is in prison in the United States.

Alfonso Durazo, Minister of Citizen's Security and Protection, confirmed the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán, an event that unchained a violent response from criminal groups.

On September 17, the Mexican kingpin of Sinaloa's Cartel was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years.

This Thursday, disputes among criminal groups were reported in several points of Culiacán. Many of them traveled in double-wheeled pick-up trucks, with 50-caliber Barrett rifles mounted in a mobile structure, without official information on the events.

Through social media, the population was alerted of loud detonations of automatic firearms, first, in the area of Tres Ríos, very close to the building of Sinaloa’s State Attorney General’s Office, and later on the crossroad of Enrique Sánchez Alonso and Universitarios.

Some days ago, Mexico’s government reported that it will do an inventory of El Chapo’s properties in order to seize them.

In order to do so, authorities need “first, the properties inventory with real evidence, because a lot is talked about the wealth of Guzmán Loera and other figures, but the evidence is needed,” pointed out Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“Sometimes [people] exaggerate due to the sensationalism of the case,” said López Obrador after remembering that the former leader of Sinaloa cartel was included in the list of the most wealthy men for four years in a row, from 2009 to 2012, the last year with a fortune of over USD $1 billion.

Have you heard about Sinaloa Cartel's macabre plan?

He was erased from the list when they noticed they could not keep verifying the amount of the drug lord, who destined more money for his family’s protection.
