CDMX to celebrate indigenous cultures at the Zócalo

Mexico City's government is organizing a party to celebrate Indigenous cultures from August 24 to September 2

and the institutions in charge of organizing the Indigenous Cultures, towns and indigenous neighborhoods' 5th Party (FCIPBOCDMX) is calling for members of indigenous communities, towns and indigenous neighborhoods to participate in the cultural encounter that will take place from August 24 to September 2 , in the Zócalo.

The call includes 5 different categories : artwork, traditional medicine, herbal medicine, traditional cuisine , and transformed products.

According to a statement release d by the local Culture Secretariat, participation is free . Besides the quality of the products , other things will be taken into account in order to participat e , such as the relevance, representation, and cultural diversity ; the theme of their work most allude to the “Indigenous languages and human mobility”.

The aim of the encounter is to spread the richness of the indigenous cultures in Mexic o and the world. That's why every year they invite a country with an indigenous community, as well as an indigenous region, and an indigenous town from Mexico City.

The event includes cultural activities like poetry readings, dance, music, literature in indigenous languages, as well as an indigenous movie and video editorial show, which is enriched by conferences, presentations, and talks with experts and indigenous intellectuals.
