Mexico and Turkey will speed up negotiations to sign a bilateral trade agreement, Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray said on Friday at an event in Mexico City with his Turkish counterpart.
"A point of interest for both countries is to continue dialogue to build a free trade agreement between Turkey and Mexico," Videgaray said, flanked by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. "We've agreed to an accelerated push to try and finalize this deal."
Videgaray, who is at the forefront of fraught trade, immigration and security discussions with top trade partner the United States, said he wanted to see more Turkish companies in Mexico, particularly in construction and agriculture.
Cavusoglu echoed Videgaray's sentiments and said they were also looking into the possibility of direct flights between the two countries.
