12 killed in road accident in Quintana Roo

At least 11 people were wounded in the incident.

At least 12 people were killed and 11 more were wounded in the early hours of today when a bus belonging to controversial Tours Acosta bus company had an accident in the Felipe Carrillo Puerto-Tulum highway in the state of Quintana Roo.





Assistant state Attorney General Blanca Imelda Ávila reported that 10 of the dead have been identified.

According to Ávila, the following is a list of the dead passengers:

1.- María Luisa Polito Márquez, a 20-year-old from Catemaco, Veracruz.2.- Alicia de la Cruz Arceo, 19, from Teapa, Tabasco.3.- Jesús Magaña Jiménez, 24, from Jalpa, Tabasco.4.- Donaciano Hernández Tobillas, 44, from Teapa, Tabasco.5.- María del Carmen Torres Ríos, 60, from Jaltipán de Morelos, Veracruz6.- Ailin Aguirre Torres, 17, from Jaltipán de Morelos, Veracruz.7.- Sandi Berenice Beltrán Abnal, 26, from Ticul, Yucatán.8.- An eight-year-old girl, from Ticul, Yucatán.9.- Guadalupe Correa Cruz, 35 to 40, from Cárdenas, Tabasco.10.- Rony Omar Parra Polito, a two-month-old baby.

Two women remain to be identified and there are 10 people in the Felipe Carrillo Puerto general hospital.

According to reports, the same bus company had another accident in December last year, with five killed and 38 wounded. Two women and a five-year-old boy were among the dead back then.
