The relatives and friends of Iván de Jesús Ayala Morales, paraded in the streets of Xalapa, Veracruz, carrying the coffin of the young man they say was killed by police officers, demanding an investigation of the murder.

They say that the State Police officers shot him and two other kids because they yelled an insult commonly used against gay people.

The protesters knocked at the door of the office of the state governor and demanded that the alleged killers receive their due punishment.

According to reports, last June 24 the youngsters were on a car and called the police officers "fags". The officers supposedly followed them to a house and forcibly took them out from it and shot them in the street.

Iván de Jesús was taken to a hospital and died a few hours later.

The other two kids are still in a hospital.

Governor Javier Duarte de Ochoa said that no impunity will be tolerated and the police officers involved will be punished.

"The @GobiernoVer offers all its support to the @FGE_Veracruz in order to solve the case of the young man presumably killed by police officers," wrote the governor on his Twitter account.
