Jobany Torres Becerra has remained in solitary confinement for 12 days in a Nicaraguan prison accused of "simulating his disappearance" in order to "discredit the Sandinista government," causing a true nightmare for his friends and relatives.

His brother Carlos told EL UNIVERSAL that the situation has been reported to Consul Ana Paula Martínez Garrigós and the Mexican authorities will demand the chance to visit the young man and proceed with his defense.

Carlos said that they hoped to have Jobany released and even returned to Mexico last Saturday, but even with the compliance of the Nicaraguan authorities the young man was never delivered to them at the airport of Managua.

And to make things worse, the Nicaraguan authorities are poised into acting against Jobany, who they say wanted to discredit the security labor of the government with a fake disappearance report on May 31. He was reportedly found and arrested the next day.

Things have gotten particularly bad for his grandmother, who almost had a heart attack and had to be taken to a hospital.

His friends are planning a protest in Zacatecas and also bring into question the fact that nobody has been able to talk to him since his arrest.
