The Office of the Attorney General of the state of Jalisco rescued 271 people from a drug-addiction treatment center, where they faced inhuman treatment and overcrowding.

The action came in response to the accusations from a woman who claimed that she was detained and virtually kidnapped in the place unless she paid some US$82 during a visit to a relative in the “Despertar Espiritual, Alcohólicos y Drogadictos de Occidente” treatment center.

State Attorney General Eduardo Almaguer Ramírez reported that 111 females, 43 of them minors, and 160 males, 69 of them boys, were found in the place. Also, 11 crime suspects were located in the premises, hiding from the authorities.
