Federal police captures alleged leader of the cartel of Acapulco

Mexico's Federal Police arrested Fredy del Valle Berdel, better known as “El Burro” and identified by the federal government as the leader of the Independent Cartel of Acapulco (CIDA).





Del Valle was arrested in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.

Mexico's federal government said that “El Burro” is allegedly “responsible for ordering several kidnappings, extortions and killings against members of opposing groups, apart from selling and distributing drugs.”

After being captured, he was taken to the Assistant Attorney General's Office for Special Investigations on Organized Crime (SEIDO) in Mexico City.

The Independent Cartel of Acapulco emerged after the disappearance of the Beltrán Leyva cartel in 2010.
