A woman's body in an extreme state of decay was found this afternoon in the tourist area of Cancun.

If it is confirmed that she was murdered, it will amount to four women deprived of their lives since October 18 in that seaside city.

According to local media, the body was found around 5:00 p.m. in the hotel area.

A press conference is expected tonight to present the preliminary results of the investigation of the incident.

If it is a murder, it happens in moments that many female killings in the city caused around 5,000 people to march last Sunday, in demand of an end to violence against women.

The protesters demanded that mayor, Paul Carrillo and governor Roberto Borge stop with investing public resources in "false and misleading advertising" of their alleged accomplishments and upholstering the city, focusing instead in security and safety for women and the population in general.

Hours after the protest, 18-year-old Paloma Balam Poot was murdered. She was stabbed in the abdomen, back, and neck.

Previously, 24-year-old Rebeca Rivera Neri was found beaten and strangled on October 18, while on October 26, 19-year-old Karen Carrasco was found dead on a sidewalk after being beaten and sexually assaulted.
