Teachers clashed with riot police in Tabasco after the protestors took a toll booth on the Villahermosa-Macuspana highway.
The protest, called by the National Coordination of Education Workers (CNTE), was dispersed with tear gas.
Teachers are also expected to protest in Oaxcaca, Chiapas, Michoacán, Guerrero and Mexico City.
