Earthquake shakes Oaxaca

Its epicenter was located in the Tehuantepec Isthmus.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale was recorded Sunday morning in the state of Oaxaca.

In a preliminary report, the National Seismological Service (SS) reported that the seismic movement had a magnitude of 5.8. However, a few minutes later it was adjusted to 5.6.

According to the SS Twitter account, at @SismologicoMX, the tremor was recorded at 10:54 a.m. and the epicenter was located 4.3 miles northwest of Unión Hidalgo, in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in Oaxaca.

The earthquake caused alarm among the population, but there are no substantial reports of damage or victims to mourn.

In the central area of Mexico the quake was hardly felt.

Also, @skyalertmx reported that the earthquake was felt in Chiapas, Veracruz and Puebla, with intensities from moderate to weak.
