Presidential spokesperson Eduardo Sánchez and military doctors reported that after a laparoscopy and the extraction of President Enrique Peña Nieto's gallbladder, he will remain for 24 to 48 hours in the hospital, depending on "his evolution".
At a press conference, Sánchez said that the President will return to office on June 29, and will be able to receive the King and Queen of Spain, Felipe and Letizia.
He added that the life of the President "was never in danger" and he can fully cope with his responsibilities.
Military doctors explained that the surgery was done through a laparoscopy and took some 50 minutes, "without incidents, accidents or complications".
"It started this morning with an intense discomfort in the gallbladder. We did a series of analyzes, both in imagery and blood samples, and they indicated that it was an acute condition and there was no other solution than the surgery", they expressed.
