The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) of Mexico is working with the U.S. embassy in order to determine the most critical cases that require special attention in the middle of the suspension for the appointments to obtain an American visa.

Foreign minister José Antonio Meade repeated the explanation provided by the U.S. authorities, stating that the rescheduling of appointments and delivery of visas are due to problems in the petition processing system.

"This is a theme that is not limited only to Mexico, but that has to do with a situation on a global level," he said.

"We will have to be in coordination with the Embassy to identify those critical cases in which we can require some support," he added.

Last Friday, the US embassy recommended that those who has appointments for the 22 and 23 of June reschedule them, as well as those who submitted their applications on-line after June 9.

The Bureau of Consular Affairs of the Department of State indicated that their problems continue around the world and they could not be able to print most of the visas approved after June 8.
