Due to the reports of violence and deterioration of security in Mexico the government of Canada issued a travel warning for Mexico, its cities and destinations, whether for business or tourist purposes.
The authorities also pointed out at the high criminal activity, the protests and demonstrations that cause, occasionally, illegal blockades on the country's roads.
The Canadian government also recommended that travel to Mexico is made by air and not land, to avoid the border crossings of the most dangerous regions.
In addition, it recommends precautions due to the activities or organized crime in rural areas, particularly on the major highways in the states of Baja California, Morelos, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas and Veracruz.
"Some municipalities popular among Canadian tourists, including Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta and Chapala, in the state of Jalisco, are experiencing an increase in drug-related violence," it stressed.
The authorities also say that the Mexican security forces are struggling against the organized criminal groups and criminals have been involved in retaliatory actions, such as arson attacks against business, gas stations, and banks, as well as shootings and blocking roads using vehicles in flames.
