On Saturday, two people died and two others were injured at an amusement park in Mexico City . The incident happened at Quimera , a ride inside The Chapultepec Fair.

The theme park has been closed while the investigation is ongoing but it's been said that the accident was the result of a mechanical failure .

After the incident, Mexico City authorities launched an investigation and announced that the park will be closed for two weeks.

A worker from the amusement park told EL UNIVERSAL that the ride had presented failures for three years but the managers failed to fix the problem.

Several clients who were evacuated from the park after the accident said that the company doesn't have a security protocol because after the incident happened, there was chaos everywhere.

On May 30 , l ocal authorities approved the park's maintenance and civil protection program , therefore, local authorities will focus on the supervision registry of the ride . The investigation should also look into the Security, Maintenance, and Operation manager , as well as the project supervisor , and the c ompany's legal representative.

After the incident , the amusement park released a statement where it claims that the company will collaborate in the investigations .

After the incident, Morena lawmaker Martín Padilla Sánchez urged local authorities to supervise the rides and attractions used in local fairs , in order to prevent another tragic accident and revealed he will discuss the informal fairs at the local Congress this week.
