“The Shape of Water,” directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, is one of the big favorites for the 75 edition of the Golden Globe Awards with seven nominations, including Best Drama Motion Picture and Best Director, according to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Starring Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Octavia Spencer, and Michael Stuhlbarg, “The Shape of Water tells the love story between a mute woman and a sea creature in the United States during the 60's.

“It's the first film I make with an encouragement to life,” said the filmmaker, who added that contrary to “Pan's Labyrinth”, which talked about the “poetry of what time has taken away,” his recent film was an ode in favor of living life at its fullest.

“The Shape of Water” will measure against Christopher Nolan's “Dunkirk” Spielberg's “The Post”, “Call Me By Your Name” & “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”

This fantasy romance is Del Toro's opportunity to return to the Oscars after more than one decade, when “ Pan's Labyrinth ” won Best Makeup, Cinematography, and Art Direction and got other three nominations for Best Original Score, Original Screenplay, and Best Foreign Language Film.
