In the framework of the Mercedes Benz Buses and Freightliner Post-Sale 2018 summit , which takes place in Guerrero , the director stated that the electric transport units would be the eCitaro models recently presented in Germany .

The buses will have an average of 150 kilometers autonomy and they may be recharged during the night.

Mercedes Benz recently began training and certifying their technicians, since the transport units will now be mechanical, technical and electrical, he said. "People are being trained worldwide. In Mexico, we have shared talks with a customer to supply vehicles to the electric transport system in Mexico City and we are now ready to bring them to the country," he argued.

Furthermore, he stated that the launch of these new products will change the way they relate to suppliers, so the company expects to produce some of the auto parts for new buses within the country.

The exact number of buses for the first transport batch is still unclear, though the manager trusted that this project would be extended to other states of the country. Mercedes Benz is ready to supply Mexico with sustainable mobility.

He recalled that, for 124 years , ever since Mercedes Benz launched the first bus in the world, the company has worked to offer new and better solutions to transport demands worldwide.

All this will be done in the framework of the company’s Case strategy , which means a higher connectivity in vehicles, with telematic interaction to monitor the conditions of both roads and vehicles, among other features.
