Elba Esther, AMLO's Ally?

A long time ago, in 2006, the teacher Elba Esther Gordillo tried to get closer to Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), back when he ran for president for the very first time. She failed. Yet, after the latest elections in the State of Mexico, those close to Mr. Andrés Manuel – especially in recent months – are non others than the former leaders of the National Teacher's Union of Mexico. They have offered him the structure they have in the country to defend the votes of the left National Regeneration Party ( MORENA ) during 2018. Now, the son-in-law of the former union boss, Fernando González, has agreed to organize public meetings and forums for AMLO, according to our sources. Mr. Fernando's attendance to a pre-campaign event in Hidalgo, in addition to other events lead by the Teacher's Union in the same state, leave no room to doubt that, at the very least, the structure they have will serve the purposes of López Obrador for this 2018.

Ruffo won't budge an inch

Little by little is the road being paved for Ricardo Anaya , who is already the aspiring candidate of the coalition between the conservative National Action Party ( PAN ), the left Democratic Revolution Party ( PRD ), and the center-left Citizen's Movement Party ( MC ). He managed to make Luis Ernesto Derbéz and Juan Carlos Romero Hicks back down yet there is still one who won't budge an inch. This one is none other than Baja California Senator Ernesto Ruffo , who claims he might still compete against Anaya. The deadline for Ruffo to make up his mind is January 7 and those close to Mr. Ruffo say an announcement could be made next week.
