Captain Juan José Aguilar Talavera

, who was flying the private jet that crashed in Ocampo, Coahuila , when it was flying from Las Vegas to Monterrey , had been arrested in 2006 by Mexico's Attorney General's Office , after he was accused of being part of a group that worked for Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán .

Also, Aguilar Talavera allegedly participated in an illegal operation to transport Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saadi Gaddafi , and his family to Mexico in 2011 by using false documents, according to Mexico's Attorney General's Office ,

During the complex and risky operation to bring Saadi Gaddafi to Mexico , Mexican businessman Christian Eduardo Esquino Núñez provided the group with a Hawker 800 in exchange for USD $145,000 but the plan failed when the three pilots , including Talavera, refused to follow the plan and fly to Lybia .
