Apparently, Alexa Moreno’s second medal for 2019 will have to wait.
The Mexican gymnast finished fourth in the vault finals at the FIG World Cup in Doha, Quatar , the last stop of this year’s championship.
Moreno Medina scored 14,000 points , a result that deprived her of the opportunity of winning bronze, which was won by French athlete Coline Devillard, with 14,549 points . Russian gymnast Maria Paseka won silver, with 14,766 points, and the American Jade Carey won gold, with 14,833 points.
Germany, Australia, Azerbaijan, and Quatar were the four venues of the World Cup’s first stage. The competition will end in 2020 , when the tour is repeated in the exact same order. Alexa won a bronze medal and three fourth places, which makes her a formidable contender for Olympic qualification.
This year, Moreno Medina will also compete at the Lima Pan American Games and the Artistic Gymnastics World Championship , where athletes will qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games of 2020 .
