The third rally over the gasoline price hike in Mexico City started at 4:00pm; the demonstrators gathered at the Angel of the Independence Monument and are heading to the Zocalo square.

The rally summons students from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), the Autonomous University of Mexico City (UACM), the National Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM), the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and also peasant organizations such as the Plan de Ayala Movement (CNPA MN).

Most of the demonstrators carry signs reading "End gas price hike" and “Peña Nieto out".

According to Mexico City authorities, over 5,000 people are heading to the Zocalo main square.

Thousands of Mexicans have protested against President Enrique Peña Nieto in the last days for the gasoline price hike which has touched off looting and clashes across the country.
