Michoacán's state prosecutor, José Martín Godoy Castro, says he wants to keep all avenues of investigation open into the murder of the director of Ziracuaretiro's public security department, Isidro Mendoza.
Godoy Castro said that the victim never reported any threats against his safety.
The state prosecutor also emphasized that there is a history in this area of authorities cracking down on criminal groups that dominate the area, causing interferences in their organizational structure and escalating retaliation.
However, according to the preliminary investigation, the prosecutor believes that information will soon be revealed that will help his department in finding those responsible for this crime.
Isidro Mendoza was shot to death early Monday morning on a federal highway. The Ministry of Public Safety has since taken control of security efforts in the Ziracuaretiro municipality and surrounding areas.
