Officials from several different government agencies relocated 1,309 marine turtle eggs and released 90 hatchlings in the Meseta de Cacaxtla nature reserve in Sinaloa.
After several reports of illegal poachers in the area, officials carried out the operation over a period of three days, which involved combing through 20 miles of beach and searching people. However, no poachers were found during the operation.
The eggs were relocated in a turtle egg protection area, according to government officials.
The Federal Environmental Protection Agency (Profepa) said that several different species of turtles lay their eggs on the beaches of Sinaloa.
