A group of researchers at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) confirmed that the Bacubirito meteorite, in Sinaloa, is the fifth largest meteorite so far found in the world.
The great Bacubirito meteorite is estimated to weigh 22 tonnes and is on display at the Centro de Ciencias de Sinaloa in the city of Culiacán, where it draws a lot of visitors every year.
It measures 4.25 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 1.75 meters high.
Bacubirito meteorite was discovered by American geologist Gilbert Ellis Bailey in 1892 and excavated with the help of local people.
