The Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) demanded that the Ministry of the Interior and the Office of the Attorney General (PGR) investigate the supposed financial support by Joaquín Guzman Loera, "El Chapo," to politicians, as revealed by his daughter.
In a statement, the PRD's secretary general, Beatriz Mojica Morga, expressed that the authorities must investigate the statements made by the eldest daughter of "El Chapo," Rosa Isela Guzmán regarding financial support to Mexican politicians in campaign time.
"The PRD requires these institutions to report which political party received the money and clarify the reasons behind an alleged arrangement with 'El Chapo'", she said.
She added that the response from the federal government must be quick, due to the elections in many states of the country and because the citizens have the right to know if a political party or any of its members have been involved with the drug trafficker.
"The silence of the Government of the Republic is the only thing generating these doubts. For the sake of Mexican State, these accusations must be clarified," said Mojica Morga.
