With an NBA-style ending in the hands of Jorge Gutiérrez, the Mexican national basketball team reached the semis of the Pre-Olympics with a victory of 73-70 over Venezuela, remaining undefeated after sealing the game in the last seconds.

Losing by just one point and with 18 seconds remaining in the last quarter, Gutiérrez grabbed the ball and went for the basket, and when he seemingly lost control of the sphere, he took everybody by surprise and scored.

Gutiérrez was the best scorer with 20 points, followed by captain Gustavo Ayón, with 14.
