Groups of unidentified individuals fought each other in various areas of the municipality of Uruapan, Michoacán, provoking an intense mobilization of the Federal Police, the Rural Forces and the Army.

The shootings left one injured after the people involved abandoned two vehicles and fled.

According to reports, last night at 9:00 p.m., the authorities received a report about a shootout between individuals traveling on board different vehicles in the corner of the Gran Parada and Galeana streets, in the Morelos neighborhood.

The combat extended to the Lázaro Cárdenas avenue, where the shooters were met by members of the Rural Force, attacking them and escaping, with the Federal Police and the rurals on their trails.

During the pursuit the hail of bullets wounded a young man identified as José Manuel. Paramedics took the 18-year-old to a local hospital.

During the shootout, both corporations requested support from the Mexican arm, and after a search in the area they found an olive green jeep with Mexico City license plates and bullet impacts, allegedly the one used by some of the criminals.

Minutes later, a gray Nissan vehicle with bullet impacts was located after being abandoned after an accident.

The area is under surveillance by the authorities and experts of the Ministerial Police are investigating the incident.
