Hurricane Andrés reached category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale and is located 161 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The agency stated on its Twitter account, @conagua_clima, that the phenomenon moves west at eight miles per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 127 mph and gusts of 155 mph.
THE SMN added that the clouds displaced by Andrés could generate heavy rains in Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán, and slight precipitation in Nayarit.
The SMN called the general population and sailors in the vicinity of the system to keep precautions and meet the recommendations issued by the National Civil Protection System.
