Scientific production

in Mexico increased 23% due to the support of the National Consortium of Scientific and Technological Information Resources ( Consorcio Nacional de Recursos de Información Científica y Tecnologíca abbreviated Conricyt ). According to a study by SCImago Research Group , the consortium has played a fundamental role to increase the quantity and quality of scientific articles in Mexico.

At the " Entre Pares " (“ Among Pairs ”) event, which took place on September 4 and 5 in Ciudad Juárez , Chihuahua , Félix de Moya Anegón , SCImago's Director , highlighted that in 2010 Mexico generated 16,327 scientific articles , compared with 21,310 articles published in 2015 indicating a 23% increase.

In addition to the number of scientific articles published, Mexico improved in quality as well, having a normalized impact of 0.74 in 2010 compared with the impact in 2015 of 0.82 , representing an 8% increase since the creation of the Conricyt.

(Secretaría de Educación Pública abbreviated SEP ), the National Council of Science and Technology (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología abbreviated CONACYT ), the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior abbreviated ANUIES ), the Autonomous Metropolitan University (Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana abbreviated UAM ) and National Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico abbreviated UNAM ) are some of the founding institutions of the Conricyt.
