Mexico's President, Enrique Peña Nieto, condemns attack in Barcelona

The President expressed his solidarity with the Catalan city and the Spanish government

Mexico's President, Enrique Peña Nieto, condemned the attack in which 1 person was killed and 32 people were injured in Barcelona.

The President tweeted in Spanish: "Mexico strongly condemns the attack that took place in Barcelona. My solidarity with the people and government of Spain."

He informed that the Mexican consulate in Barcelona (@ConsulmexBCN) has followed the proper protocols of protection and has provided the following telephone numbers +34 608 322 569 and +34 674 944 272 to assist fellow nationals.

The tragedy occurred when a white van drove into a crowd of people in Las Ramblas, one of the busiest places in the Spanish city.

The police are searching for two people as alleged authors of the attack. According to the first hypotheses, one of the suspects was hiding in a bar with a gun, while the other escaped.
