The resolution issued by a Mexican tribunal to finally arrest those responsible for morally and physically hurting journalist Lydia Cacho should be celebrated. It has been 14 years since the journalist was detained for the publication of her book The Demons of Eden ( Los demonios del Edén) , where she exposed the existence of a pederasty network that involved businessmen and officials from the state of Puebla . As a result, the journalist and social activist was attacked, she then revealed she was kidnapped, beaten, and sexually abused by the police officers who detained her. The case horrified Mexican society and many raised their voices to demand the punishment of the aggressors and the compensation for damages for Lydia Cacho.

In late 2018 , the case caused turmoil and confusion after a judge in Quintana Roo refused to issue an arrest warrant against the four men accused by L ydia Cacho , who were the intellectual and material authors of the aggression against her.

With a new federal administration , it seemed like the case of Lydia Cacho would change since January 2019, when she received an official apolog y from Interior Minister Olga Sánchez Cordero , for the violation of her human rights , perpetrated by members of a state apparatus. Cacho was told the new government wasn't driven my particular interests, as in the case of previous administrations.

It is essential that this case isn't closed and that each person involved is held accountabl e for their actions because it is unbelievable that it took Mexican justice over a decade to solve a case that generated interest all over the country.
