In Oaxaca the Guelaguetza , an annual indigenous cultural event, is for everyone. The streets of the state capital were crowded last Sunday by the participation of different groups that presented music, dances, gastronomy, and folklore.

The group " Los Angeles de luz " (The Angels of Light), made up of girls and boys with Down syndrome , presented in the Plaza de la Danza their Guelaguetza, in which they delighted the audience with sones and jarabes , traditional songs forms of the mariachi genre , from the eight regions of the state.

For 14 years the organization has made the audience vibrate with music and folk dances , so the activity is already part of the July festivities each year.

The goddess Centéotl, Rebeca Itaís Ortiz Santibañez , welcomed the public, as well as the governor Alejandro Murat and his wife Ivete Morán .

For more than two hours they presented a sample of the traditions of the communities of the entity.

In the afternoon, the delegation of San Pedro and San Pablo Ayutla made their own parade through the streets of the Historical Center , as well as an exhibition of the customs of the Mixe ethnic group , who have participated in the Guelaguetza for 50 years ; however, they complained that this year they were not taken into account for the party.
