Mexican and U.S. women march in the immediate vicinity of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to defend diversity, equality and women rights that are threatened under the new U.S. administration led by president Donald Trump.
Signs like "Surveillance against ignorance", "Not my president" and "We are the wall against fascism" were hanged in the metal fence protecting the embassy.

A second group of protesters has already reached Mexico City's Independence Monument.

The march in Mexico City joins the one taking place in Oaxaca, Chiapas and other major cities around the world such as Paris, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Lima, Madrid and Barcelona, among others.

These demonstrations are in full solidarity with the “Women’s March” originally called in Washington, D.C., which managed to summon tens of thousand of protesters worldwide, which include, British actress and women rights activist, Emma Watson, as well as prominent American political figures like independent senator, Bernie Sanders and former secretary of state, John Kerry.
A Mexican group, which includes Mexican journalist Denise Dresser, traveled to Washington to join the protest “Here with the proudly Mexican group attending Women’s March in Washington”.
American film-maker and documentalist, Michael Moore, one of the main promoters of the Women’s March, also attended the march both as a protester and a speaker.

Showbiz figures like Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, America, Ferrera, Cher, Zendaya, Katy Perry, Julian Moore, Alicia Keys, Chelsea Handler, Amber Rose,Helen Mirren, Cynthia Nixon and Whoopi Goldberg, among others, also took part in the march.
For her part, former Democrat nominee, Hillary Clinton, thanked protesters, via her twitter account:“Thanks for standing, speaking & marching for our values @womensmarch. Important as ever. I truly believe we’re always Stronger Together.”
She added: ““Hope Not Fear” Indeed.”
