Mexico City prosecutor launches investigation into female homicide

Mexico City's top prosecutor launched an investigation into a femicide that occurred in Tlalpan, Mexico City.

This femicide has shocked many residents from the area since Mexico City has mostly been spared from the wave of female homicides that's rocked many parts of the country. 

According to preliminary reports, the murder occurred on Monday at 4:00 am, as the victim was leaving a family party with three unidentified men.

Hours later, the woman was found dead and showed signs of having been sexually assaulted.

An average of 7 women were murdered every day in Mexico between 2013 and 2015.
