The President of the Federal Commission of Economic Competition, Alejandra Palacios, says they are looking to award approximately US$5,000 to the business owner, entrepreneur or person who can find the most absurd law in Mexico that prevents economic competitiveness, generates uncertainty and drives up the cost of doing business in the country.

Palacios said while announcing the contest during the National Entrepreneur Week that the goal behind this initiative is to help create a legal framekwork that promotes economic competitiveness in Mexico.

“Obsolete regulation drives up the costs incurred by businesses and entrepreneurs in investing in the market and sometimes even discourages them form doing so,” said Palacios.

The contest runs through January 31 and the winner will be announced on March 30, 2017.
