Tourist boat on fire in Mazatlán

Rescue corporations and the navy rescued 20 passengers from a catamaran on fire in front of the coastal area known as El Faro, in Mazatlán.

There are no reports of victims.

The civil protection authorities reported that the boat "Isla de Piedra" had a failure in the engine room and a subsequent fire quickly spread on the tourist ship.

The crew of smaller vessels came to aid the passengers and reported the incident to the authorities.

Rescue units and the Navy deployed an aid operation and tried to control the fire on the vessel.
