Pope Francis arrived tonight at the Abraham González International Airport in Ciudad Juárez to head back to Rome after a 5-day visit to Mexico.

President Enrique Peña Nieto received the pontiff at the airport and they exchanged a few words in the departure lounge.

The president of Mexico was accompanied by his wife Angélica Rivera de Peña, the Minister of the Interior, Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Claudia Ruiz Massieu, among others.

With the song "Las Golondrinas", a group of folklore dancers and dozens of people waving handkerchiefs in farewell, Pope Francis boarded the aircraft and took off at 8:40 pm.
