Javier Aguirre is the new trainer of Abu Dhabi's Al Wahda soccer club.

The Mexican coach was signed for a year after his failure with Japan's national soccer team and a match-fixing investigation in Spain. His contract may be extended depending on his performance.

"Javier Aguirre will be a great asset for Al Wahda thanks to his experience and success record as a trainer," the club said in a statement.

This is the seventh soccer club coached by Aguirre after Atlante, Pachuca, Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid, Zaragoza and Espanyol apart from Mexico's national soccer team.
