Mexico City’s Philharmonic Orchestra
will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at a kiosk in the Spring Cultural Garden of the city’s main square ( Zócalo ) on Friday, April 5, at 19:00 hours.
All four concerts that make up the classic baroque work by the Venetian composer –-Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter– will be performed by the Mexico City Orchestra conducted by concertmaster Erika Dobosiewicz , who will also perform as a violin soloist.
Roberto Mejía
, the philharmonic orchestra’s operations director, commented that he was delighted to bring such an important piece “to the Zócalo, the centerpiece of Mexico’s political, social, and historical life.”
Since March 21, several groups and artists have performed at the kiosk, which is reminiscent of a kiosk that was donated to the main square by Antonio Escandón in 1878.
The Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra will also perform on April 6 and 7 at the Santo Domingo Church and the Roberto Cantoral Cultural Center , with a program that will include Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla , arranged by Leonid Desyatnikov .
