The government of Mexico City will offer free transport services on election day

Mexico City’s head of government, José Ramón Amieva, has announced that the Public Transport System (SCT) will offer free services for subway and shuttle transport on July 1.

“On election day, it is imperative that we provide all the means necessary for people to be able to exercise their right to vote. Many citizens are occupied from early in the morning, far away from their appointed polling places,” he stated.

José Ramón Amieva added that the schedule for free transport services will be from 8:00 to 18:00 hours on Sunday, “with the sole purpose that the people who are at a workplace far away from home can have all the help they need to get to their polling places on time.”

During a meeting for the followup of the Civility Pact, the head of government stressed that a police operative will handle the monitoring of 50% of voting polls in Mexico City on election day, through the Command and Control Center (C5).
