7.1 Mx

Remains in every corner... a reminder.

7.1 Mx through the eyes of EL UNIVERSAL in English staff

Preliminary reports of the National Seismology Service reported a 7.1-magnitude earthquake between the states of Puebla and Morelos.

It hit Mexico City at about 13:14 on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, exactly 32 years to the day a devastating earthquake shook the city in 1985, and only twelve days after an 8.2 quake hit the country minutes before midnight on Thursday, September 7.

Collective hysteria, and the reminder that 1985 is not that far behind...
Collapsed buildings, cracks, and fractures on the walls, pieces of glass all over the place...
A sense of fear, uncertainty, and impotence surrounding the city while solidarity emerged as the minutes went by...

Yet, Mexico will slowly overcome the 7.1 earthquake that hit the country.
