The body of Jesús Alejandro Márquez Jiménez, who was a crime reporter and collaborated with different media outlets in Nayarit, was found in a reed bed in Tepic, said authorities. Along with him, 14 other journalists have been murdered in 2018.

Yesterday, the medical forensic service (Semefo) identified his body.

The initial versions indicate that the journalist was last seen on Friday when he was with his family and suddenly received a phone call. After answering the phone, he left his home but didn't come back. His family reported his disappearance.

Unofficially, it was revealed that the journalist's body had three gunshot wounds, but authorities haven't released new information.

Besides his work as a reporter, Máquez Jiménez was a city councilor candidate by Morena, to the Tuxpan municipality, in the June 2017 election. He collaborated with Crítica Digital Noticia, and over a year ago he founded Orión Informativo, a newspaper.
