The Mexican airliner Interjet lost a passenger's pet dog on Monday prior to taking off during a flight from Mexico City to Houston, Texas.

“They told me that the dog didn't make it. That they dropped the crate and it ran away,” said Pamela Álvarez in a video she shared on Facebook, which she filmed during her return flight to Mexico City.

In the video, she also says that Interjet isn't aware whether the dog is lost inside the airport's premises.

“I just want everyone to know what happened and for the people at Interjet to return my dog to me,” she said in the video while speaking to other passengers.

With the hashtag #BuscandoaMika (Looking for Mika), Interjet shared a public statement on Twitter in which they say they are currently looking for the dog.

"Up until now we haven't been able to find Mika, but we will continue to search with all means at our disposal." Interjet said.
