Morelia wants prostitutes to pay taxes

The measure is intended to reduce prostitution in the capital city of Michoacán, especially in the areas of Plaza del Carmen, Plaza Carrillo and El Triangulito.

Jesús Ávalos Plata, secretary of the government of Morelia, said that prostitutes will be forced to pay taxes as their activity can be considered “trade on the street”.

Ávalos explained that the measure is intended to reduce prostitution in the capital city of Michoacán, especially in the areas of Plaza del Carmen, Plaza Carrillo and El Triangulito.

He added that prostitutes will be offered other job alternatives.
