Mexico to invest US$900 million in solar energy projects in 2016

The investments will help the country reach a capacity of 600 megawatts.

Mexico will invest around US$900 million in solar energy projects in 2016.

Carlos Flores, spokesperson of the National Association of Solar Energy (ANES) said that the investments will help the country reach a capacity of 600 megawatts.

He added that capacity is expected to reach 260 megawatts in 2015, equivalent to 0.4% of Mexico's electricity generation.

Currently 20,000 houses have solar panels in Mexico.
