The SRE announces Pope Francis activities in Mexico

The Pope will be in Mexico from February 12 to 17.

Pope Francis will visit Mexico from February 12 to 17, and will have activities in the states of Mexico, Chiapas, Michoacán and Chihuahua, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE).

The SRE reported that the Pontiff will hold a meeting with President Enrique Peña Nieto in the National Palace, a parallel meeting with the Vatican and Mexican representatives as well as representatives of the Judicial and Legislative branches, ministries and diplomatic corps.

The Pope will arrive in Mexico City on February 12 and on the next day he will carry diverse activities and meet with Mexican bishops as well as conduct a mass in the Basilic of Guadalupe.

On February 12, Francis will conduct a mass in the municipality of Ecatepec de Morelos, in the State of Mexico and meet with representatives of the cultural sector of Mexico City.

The next day, the Pope will visit the state of Chiapas, conducting a mass with indigenous representatives in San Cristóbal de Las Casas and local families in Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

On February 16, Pope Francis will visit Morelia, Michoacán, to celebrate mass along local representatives of the church and meet with young people.

Finally, on February 17, he will visit Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, in order to meet with local inmates as well as representatives of the labor sector, before finally holding a mass before returning to Rome.
