Remains of second Ayotzinapa student identified

The Attorney General's Office (PGR) said that forensic experts at the University of Innsbruck identified the remains of a second student from the Rural Normal School of Ayotzinapa, Jhosivani Guerrero de la Cruz, 21.

The forensic experts had already identified the remains of Alexander Mora Venancio from a bone fragment found in a garbage dump in Cocula.

The government's official version said that the students were killed and incinerated at the garbage dump.

On September 6, the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) designated by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) dismantled the government's long-held official version and said they found numerous problems in the investigation.

The independent experts hired their own fire expert to study the scene. He concluded that it was not possible that a fire of the magnitude necessary to reduce the bodies to ash occurred at the dump.
