On August 10, the Chamber of Deputies will disburse more than 577 million pesos (US$35.28 million) for a severance pay for the 500 federal legislators who were part of the 62nd Legislature.

As a settlement, each member will receive 1.15 million pesos (US$70,676) on average for having completed three years of parliamentary work in San Lázaro.

They will also be paid a proportional Christmas bonus of 93,669 pesos (US$5,729) for working from January to August this year.

Moreover legislators will receive nearly 150,000 pesos (US$9,174) as payment for the last month of work, 73,910 pesos (US$4,520) for their August allowance, plus 45,786 pesos (US$2,800) for Legislative Assistance and 28,772 pesos (US$1,760) for Citizen Services.

Additionally, each outgoing congressman will receive 2,780 pesos (US$170) in food vouchers and a deposit of between 10,000 pesos (US$611) and 50,000 pesos (US$3,056) for transportation expenses, depending on their place of residence.

Also, legislators have a saving funds to which they contribute between 8 and 12% of their gross income and the Chamber of Deputies contributes with the same amount, which means a total of 910,000 pesos (US$55,625) for the three years.

The Social Communication Coordination of the Chamber of Deputies told EL UNIVERSAL that the payments "were included in the 2015 budget and are in accordance with the internal regulations."
