Shootout between criminals and rural force confirmed in Michoacán

The office of the State Attorney General un Michoacán confirmed that during the first hours of the day, members of the rural force from the municipality of Aquila faced a criminal gang that attacked them the previous day.

The confrontation was held in the hill known as "La Marieta," belonging to the area of Ticla, according to the report.

The gang was supposedly involved in attacks against members of the Rural Force, and killed two men identified as Miguel Angel and Reynaldo, who aspired to join the civilian security unit.

The attack occurred Monday morning after an ambush against community force leader Semeí Verdía Zepeda and his people in Aquila.

According to reports, during that attack and the following retaliation, "a member of the Rural Force and three aspirants to the corporation were injured, and then channeled to different hospitals".

The state attorney added that the supposed criminals killed are "members of a group headed by Federico González, known as 'Lico', who has been linked to several criminal acts".

The state authorities are investigating the incidents with the support of experts and public security officers.
